Can you arrange song requests? Yes, with style

Would you like SwissDuo to perform a song that matters to you? A clear request helps us check whether it is already in our repertoire or needs a new arrangement for piano and cello. This guide takes you from choosing the recording to agreeing on the performance.

1. Choose the version you mean

Send the song title, artist and a recording link. Studio recordings, live versions and covers can differ considerably. If a particular passage matters to you, include its timestamp, such as the start of a chorus or an instrumental introduction. You can also tell us why the song is meaningful to you.

2. Describe its place in the event

Will it accompany an entrance, follow the celebrant’s words or be a surprise during dinner? A short walk needs a different musical shape from a dedicated listening moment.

  • Date and venue: when and where is the event?
  • Placement: when should the song be played?
  • Duration: is there a fixed time slot or a changing sequence to follow?
  • Character: close to the recording, gentle, festive or rhythmic?
  • Instruments and setting: is a suitable piano available, and will we play indoors or outdoors?

3. Existing repertoire or a new arrangement?

Start with our repertoire. “Perfect”, “All of Me” and “Moon River” are among the pieces we already perform. An existing arrangement involves different preparation from a new one.

For a new request, we assess melody, rhythm, structure and the possibilities of the two instruments. Read more about adapting songs for piano and cello.

4. Agree on preparation and terms

After reviewing the song, we discuss the version and work involved, including arranging, writing parts and rehearsing where required. Any additional cost and preparation time are specified in the individual offer.

Enquire early, especially for several new pieces. A particular lead time does not guarantee availability or every requested version; we confirm these after reviewing the details.

5. Coordinate the beginning and ending

For an entrance, agree who gives the cue and when the walk ends. Discuss these points with us and your event coordinator. For a church wedding, check the choice with the officiant. Outdoors, we also discuss a suitable weather-protected performance area and technical needs.
