About the piece and our interpretation
Maurice Ravel’s Pièce en forme de Habanera combines a distinctive dance rhythm with subtle melodic colour. SwissDuo performs the Spanish-inspired work on cello and piano in this live recording from Zurich in 2023. The setting is EONARIUM Enlightenment, the immersive light show by PROJEKTIL.
The projections create a visual setting for Ravel’s music while the two acoustic instruments remain the musical focus. Habanera offers an idea for a chamber recital, an arts evening or a carefully curated gala programme. For listeners looking beyond the most familiar classical requests, the performance introduces a different rhythmic and expressive side of SwissDuo’s repertoire.
