About the piece and our interpretation
Moon River, composed by Henry Mancini with original lyrics by Johnny Mercer for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is a familiar meeting point between film music and song. SwissDuo’s instrumental version places its gentle melody in the sound of cello and piano. The result invites close listening while preserving the song’s easy, unhurried character.
This performance offers inspiration for an elegant drinks reception, wedding celebration or dinner with live music. Moon River can sit alongside film themes, jazz standards and acoustic pop arrangements. In planning an event, we consider whether the music should invite focused listening or accompany conversation. That choice guides the volume, programme and pacing of the performance.
