Book Musicians for Your Event

Book live musicians for your event

Are you planning a drinks reception, wedding ceremony, corporate event or private celebration and looking to book live musicians? SwissDuo accompanies your event with cello and piano. To ensure the music suits the venue and schedule, we discuss the line-up, repertoire and musical moments together. Here you can find out what information helps with an enquiry and what should be agreed before booking.

A reception needs a different approach from a concert moment or a ceremony. At a drinks reception, the music should leave room for conversation; during an entrance or an announced performance, it can take centre stage. Tell us about the effect you would like to create as well as the type of event.

1. Clarify the date, venue and musical setting

The following details help with an initial enquiry:

  • Date, venue and, where possible, the full address;
  • Type of event and approximate guest numbers;
  • Desired playing times and schedule, for example a ceremony followed by a reception;
  • Indoor or outdoor setting, with a sheltered alternative for bad weather;
  • Special music requests and, if available, an indicative budget.

If some details are still undecided, simply say so. A provisional running order is a useful basis for a conversation; the details can be agreed afterwards.

2. Choose the right line-up and repertoire

Cello and piano combine a singing melody with harmonic accompaniment. For a drinks reception, we can create a varied programme that leaves room for conversation. A wedding often centres on individual personal moments. For a corporate event or gala, the music is coordinated with speeches and other parts of the programme.

Our repertoire provides a starting point. Name one to three pieces that are particularly important to you. For additional requests, we assess whether a suitable arrangement is possible and what preparation it requires. Not every piece can be transferred unchanged to every line-up.

For a church wedding, agree on the selection with the officiating minister or priest. You can find specific ideas in our article on wedding songs for a church ceremony.

3. Agree on instruments, space and equipment

Tell us whether there is a playable piano or grand piano at the venue. Its condition, tuning and position should suit the performance. If no suitable instrument is available, we discuss an alternative and the power supply required.

A suitable playing area, access to the venue and enough time for setup and a soundcheck are equally important. Outdoors, instruments and equipment need protection from rain, direct sunlight and wind. If there are several playing locations, such as a ceremony and reception, allow for moving and setting up again.

4. Confirm the quote and running order

The price depends on factors including line-up, playing time, travel, equipment and additional preparation. Make sure the quote explains the agreed scope: what playing times and breaks are planned? Which instruments or technical services are included? How are changes and special requests handled?

Before a booking becomes binding, the date, venue, services and terms should be agreed and recorded. Shortly before the event, an up-to-date running order and a designated contact person help coordinate music, speeches and transitions.

Frequently asked questions about booking

How early should I enquire?

Once the date and venue are decided, it makes sense to enquire. Availability depends on the specific date; an enquiry alone does not reserve it.

Can I request particular pieces?

Yes. Send us the titles as early as possible. Together, we will assess which pieces suit the line-up and event and whether a new arrangement is needed.

Can the music accompany conversations?

Yes. The programme and dynamics can be tailored to a reception. Room acoustics, guest numbers and the position of the musicians are considered during preparation.

Plan your event with SwissDuo. Send us the date, venue, type of event and desired playing times through our contact page. Add your music requests if you wish. This gives us a basis for discussing availability and the right musical setting.
